Project Idea :D

Last night I couldnt sleep, lying fucking wide awake at like 3 in the morning. So just lying there in my bed thinking about random shit and a few ideas pop into my head. I wanted to make a few games over the summer just so I keep up with my knowledge of programming and design for going back to university.

So i came up with a very simple game idea. Just a little 2d side scroller survival. Pretty much you have a character who runs from away from a volcanic explosion that has happened on the left of the screen. You are running away from the flowing lava and fireballs/chucks of earth will drop from above. You will need to jump gaps, clear obstacles (not gonna tell you what these are yet) and your character may have a few special abilities. Not a fucking triple A amazing game. Some simple ass project for me to work on.

But I thought while making the game I would do development diaries say once or twice a week (depending on how much I work on the game) to show people what I have done so far and talk about what im doing. If I get a few people to watch these diaries then I would ask for input from the viewers on what to add to the game and get them involved. Get them to send in voices ect for the character.


So what do you guys think ? I thought it was a pretty decent idea, but then again I did come up with it at the early hours of the morning whilst trying to sleep so it may be shit Honest opinions.

Scratch that, got it to work. That game good , so yeah something like that idea. Probably simpler since ive only just finished first year. Plus im probably going for more 3d graphics as opposed to cartoon.

Do it. You should get XNA or whatever it's called and make it on the xbox

Nah it will just be pc for now. Considering getting a website and putting all of the things I make online.

Once I save up enough money ill buy the unity iphone version and make games for that.
