Well shite...

Post  Static Jak on Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:16 pm

My TV is slowly dying. Screen flickers on occasion, takes longer to turn on, brightness fades and so on.

So I'm now hunting for a new 32" TV. Preferably Sony or Samsung. So any recommendations? And of course, gaming is the main use. So should I go LED, LCD or Plasma? Any particular model series?

If you can afford it, the way to go will be the Sharp Aquos LED with Quattron technology. This bad boy is at the top of the market right now as far as flat panel displays go. Not to mention most models are 3D ready. Price like I said will be an issue with this TV. It will be hard to find a new 32" for under $1000.00 US

As for choosing between LCD, LED or Plasma, go LCD or LED. Plasma's tend to burn or "Ghost" images on the screen which can turn permanent if continuous. Also both LCD's and LED's have a much higher refresh rate then Plasma's.

Yeah I wasn't considering Plasma much TBH. LED has my interest the most. Much higher refresh rate too. I did see a SONY KDL-32EX710 LED with a price around €750. From what I've seen, it seems pretty good but I've only looked over the stuff a few minutes ago.
Not really bothered about 3D. The price bump isn't worth it for me plus the tech still way too new to bet on.
