I wonder what's going to happen when the TV series catches up to the books before George RR Martin finishes book series.

Well I know they want to split Storm of Swords into multiple series. Makes sense considering the amount of stuff that happens. And who knows how they'll split/merge the last two books.

Without giving away any major spoilers, King Joffrey wasn't interested in finding the young Stark, he was more interested in killing all the bastard sons of King Robert because he saw them as threats to the legitimacy of his rule.
