New media server/gaming rig
So all of you talking about PC gaming has made me jealous.....So I went out the other day and bought a bare bones AMD box with hopes of creating a monster. Just got off memory expresses website and have placed my order, now to wait for delivery!
AMD Phenom II X2 dual core 2.8Ghz 64Mb L2 cache, 4X4GB Ripjaws X Series DDR3 PC3-12800, Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5, 2X 1TB Barracuda's SATA3 64MB Cache, 150GB Raptor for Pirated Win7 Ultimate and a 55" LCD
Still need to order 1 more Radeon 6850 (daisy chained on dual PCI-e slots to make a dual mem 2GB monster vid card) and a good cap card and a new case then all will be good. Should have the parts in about a week or so and will post pics as soon as this beast is put together.

I need to do that some time. Though I'll need a new motherboard. Ugh, that's the biggest pain in the ass to change too. Screw it, my 560 Ti hasn't found a game to really push it yet so I'm good for a good while. Plus SLI is only really starting to be pushed into more games recently. Some needing a patch and card update to use fully on a particular game.

If your decent with a soldering gun just add the second PCI-e slot yourself. Most boards already have the pin set for a second slot you just gotta follow the layout and make sure not to nake any cross connections and most chip sets support dual PCI-e by default

I'm using an Asus P7H55 M-Pro right now. Not much space for anything like that.
If I wanted or needed SLI, I'll just go off and get something like a P7P55D-EVO and bring it into my cousin who works for a computer repair store. He usually owes me something. Less hassle for me, can't stand changing motherboards.

Re: New media server/gaming rig
Issues........The box keeps dying doing install of pirated Win7 Ultimate...8 trys and not one clean install.....not sure what the issues is. Just either shuts all video down (black screen) and stalls or freezes the video and stalls. I am thinking possibly a heat issue, Chip issue, or video issues. Problem is I am running onboard HDMI Ati video (shipment of parts has not arrived yet) and without even a somewhat functional OS troubleshooting a hardware issue is going to difficult at best....
Going to rip the box apart, clean and examine all hardware and put it back together. Hoping its something as simple as thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink. I guess thats what I get for buying a non-functioning used box....ah well, years of tech support and school for this shit, dont fail me now!
