Re: New Nintendo Console
From what I read on that article I am really pumped. If Nintendo can produce some content like they did on the N64 with a real console, we got a lot of great games coming our way.

Re: New Nintendo Console
After looking into the rumoured screen on the controller for the new Nintendo Console, I can't help but get excited at what possibilities could come from that if it was true.
You could have Devs make games (say downloadable games from their marketplace) that would be made specially for that screen. It'd be the equivalent of a handheld but with the power of at least a 360 backing it up. More space, faster, bigger, just more everything.
Imagine games like DQ9 with that much potential. Could open up something big.
Or games that would use the screen for different gameplay elements. And if it was successful, you would guarantee MS and Sony would be all over it with there next gen machines.
All speculation obviously but interesting none the less.
Anyway, it sounds like Nintendo are looking for the third party publishers and devs to help support them much more beyond shovel-ware. They could be possibly going back into the core community while obviously still offering something on the casual end. We'll have a better idea of that by E3 though.
I think we're jumping the gun on MS and Sonys part too. I would presume the next MS console could very well be ready by 2013 if they wish but if they have the choice, wait till Fall 2014 to drag out the 360s lifespan as the main MS console for that bit longer. Whether Project Cafe would be a threat to the 360 could have a large effect on the release date of a new xbox.
Though to be fair, MS could bring out yet another SKU shortly before or after the Cafes launch with possibly built in Kinect to cause some damage which could push back a launch for a new Xbox. But that's rough guessing at best on my part.
There's a large amount of angles to take in here, but one thing's for certain. Don't underestimate Nintendo. Most of us laughed at the Wii when it was first shown and it made us eat our words.
All we can do is sit back and wait.

Re: New Nintendo Console
So, here is to praying for the same type of system architecture as the Wii. If so its only a matter of months after release until a stable softmod for a revised HackMii is running and HomeBrew is up. If this happens, then this will hands down be the best system EVAR!
Nintendo has always had weak code that was exploited rather quickly, lets all hope that they overlooked security to the extent as they did with the Wii.

Re: New Nintendo Console
For an example, My hacked Wii currently has over 100 games that all boot from a USB HDD, The following emulators with countless games; PSone, Xbox(orig), GameCube, DS, SNES, Sega Geneses/CD/Saturn/Master, Turbo Grafix ect ect ect. Fully working Firefox, Netflix and *ALL* WiiStore DLC.
So, understanding how powerful the "Wii2" will be, It should easily emulate a 360 or PS3 environment. Meaning I can hand-held LAN Halo in my house! Which leads to naked halo in the bathtub!!!!
Ahem,
The only drawback is gonna be that sure, it can emulate a 360 or a PS3, but it will never gain access to XBL or PSN, but if a profile can be loaded from a USB stick then maybe you can load a XBL account to a Wii2 in "Offline Mode", play whatever game you want then switch back to your 360 when you wanna play online. Which also leads to a whole new level of cheevo boosting...
So yeah. BEST SYSTEM EVAR!
